The South Yorkshire Athletics Network held their first youth coach development workshop on Tuesday 4th January at Herringthorpe Stadium. The network hosted a positive behaviour management workshop, delivered by Sports coach UK.

Attending the workshop were 12 coaches from across the region and the popularity and success of these workshops is now attracting interest from outside the South Yorkshire Network.

Ashley Dewhurst commented, “The tutor was so knowledgeable and interesting and the resources will be really useful…they will help me to produce a positive coaching environment as well as provide me with new management tools”.

To continue with enhancing coaching provision, The South Yorkshire Athletics network are delivering The South Yorkshire Coach Development Day to provide South Yorkshire club coaches with the opportunity to get together, share and learn new information. The day will also identify South Yorkshire club coaches’ needs and requirements for future coach development workshops. It is being held on Saturday 22nd of January 9.30am till 4.30pm at Newfield School, Sheffield. The day will consist of strength and conditioning workshop ran by Pete McKnight, a coach education session ran by Debbie Beresford (England Athletics) and a training needs analysis of coaches’ workshop ran by Pete Moore.
