work Coordinator Appointed

The South Yorkshire Athletics Network has successfully appointed Ashley Little to the role of SYAN Development Officer. Ashley who will be based within South Yorkshire Sport through the partnership created with England Athletics and the SYAN will coordinate and manage the delivery of the Network projects, and raise the capability of clubs in the network, through the provision and delivery of coach and volunteer education and development programmes.

Ashley has been involved with Athletics as an athlete, coach and project coordinator; she started athletics at the age of 8, covering all athletic disciplines and competing at the English Schools in high jump and long jump as well as combined events. She is now a UKA Level 2 coach, currently coaching at Leeds City AC as well as sitting on their committee.

Ashley previously worked for Leeds City Council as a casual athletics coach for 6 years, and has been involved with Star Track schemes, Community Clubs and Street Athletics project. Ashley was involved with writing the successful Leeds Athletics Network plan, and gaining the Network funding. She says of her appointment, "As an athlete and coach I have a great passion for athletics. Iím looking forward to working with the clubs, coaches and volunteers in South Yorkshire and ensuring the development and sustainability of athletics through local athletics clubs."
